People love free stuff, your customers included. Many store owners provide a gift with purchase to share a little piece of gratitude and make yourself stand out. A freebie can be a great touch that your customers will love or something they toss along with the packaging. It is up to you to decide what and how often you want to give freebies. We’ve put together a list of a few examples to get you thinking as you open a clothing store online.
Freebie examples:
- bath bombs
- necklaces
- bracelets
- mini loofah filled with soap
- samples of lotion
- chapstick
- handwritten notes
- return policy
- hair tie
- stickers
- scratch cards
- discount code for next purchase
Some store owners provide freebies in the beginning or to first-time customers but eventually start to taper down and choose not to send anything at all. Providing a gift with purchase can be difficult with high volume sales. Some store owners focus on the packaging and might wrap the product in tissue paper, sticker and/or tie it with a bow.
It is up to you whether or not you want to spend the extra money to include a gift or make the unwrapping experience memorable. Think about your target audience and whether or not this is something that they will find valuable or if they have no desire for this type of thing at all. If you choose to opt out of the gift/special wrapping experience, think about other ways that your store stands out and incorporate it into your branding strategy.
If you do choose to include a gift or purchase special packaging, make sure you include it in your boutique budget!
